A man of great passion and artistic ability, Seattle's Rod Long is a professional
photographer, writer and stand-up comedian. He holds degrees in Journalism
(Seattle University) and Motion Picture Production (Brooks Institute of
Photography).
Always the consummate jokester from infancy, he began dabbling in stand-up
comedy professionally while living in Los Angeles, where an uncanny impression
of Muhammad Ali promoting bug killer got big laughs -- and he became hooked
on facilitating laughter.
Now a veteran on the comedy scene, Long won the 1987 Seattle International
comedy Competition and the 1998 "Emerald City's Funniest Person"
contest. He has been seen on the Showtime Comedy Club Network -- twice
-- and has performed at Caesar's Palace, Caroline's, the Comedy Underground,
and many other venues throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and
Japan. He is co-host of Seattle P-I Annual Sports Star of the Year with
Steve Raible and the color commentator of the annual Detlef Schrempf Celebrity
Golf Tournament.
Satisfied corporate clients include Microsoft, Boeing, Seattle Seahawks,
Seattle/King County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Port of Seattle, Seattle
P-I Newspaper, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean International; benefit performances
include the Charles Barkley Foundation, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and
the Make a Wish Foundation.
Rod most recently opened for The Temptations and has done so for many
other greats including, Lou Rawls, Smokey Robinson, Arturo Sandoval, Ertha
Kitt, Bobby Hutchinson and Ray Charles. Plus, comedy greats, Jerry Seinfeld,
Marsha Warfield and the late, great Bill Hicks.
